TFDi Design has provided the first cockpit and interior previews of their highly-anticipated McDonnell Douglas MD-11 for Microsoft Flight Simulator. While previous teasers and previews of the plane were mostly centered around Prepar3D, the team has now released several screenshots showcasing the plane in MSFS.
The latest previews of the MD-11 primarily focus on the passenger cabin of the aircraft. We can see different types of seats, as well as the galley and the cabin attendant seat. While this is nice to see, most potential customers will likely be interested in the cockpit of the plane, where they will spend most of their time flying it. Fortunately, the TFDi team has provided a few of these previews as well. We get a clear view of the center console of the aircraft, including the FMS, throttle quadrant, and radio controls. We also get to see a bit of the instrument and MCP panel.
Last year, TFDi Design stirred up controversy with their pre-order of the MD-11, which featured an exclusive version of the plane. The limited pre-sale proved to be a big success for TFDi, with all 1000 available copies selling out in just 10 hours. While the move was met with mixed reactions from the community, the company used the additional resources to continue developing the plane up to the level they promised, which is very high. “Beyond study-level,” they said.
The McDonnell Douglas MD-11 is an American tri-jet wide-body airliner that was developed and manufactured by McDonnell Douglas and later by Boeing Commerical Airplanes. It was originally developed from the DC-10 and maintains the basic tri-jet configuration. The aircraft is equipped with updated GE CF6-80C2 or PW4000 turbofan engines. It has a slightly wider wingspan with winglets, an increased MTOW of 286 t, and a stretched fuselage to accommodate 398 passengers over a range of 7,130 nm. Around 200 were built in passenger and cargo versions, with many passenger versions converted to freighters.
Overall, the MD-11 by TFDi Design looks promising and highly detailed. The team’s commitment to providing an experience that is as close to the real thing as possible is evident, and we can’t wait to see more previews of the plane in the future. As of now, no information regarding a potential release date for the MD-11 has been shared. The rendition is still a work in progress, and we will be sure to update you should any information arise.
